Police charge man with Theft and Possession of Stolen Property

Brantford Police ServicePolice charge man with Theft and Possession of Stolen Property

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to a Stanley Street business for call to report a theft in progress at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

A witness reported they observed the accused taking merchandise and exiting the business without paying.

Officers attended and located the suspect who attempted to flee on foot before being arrested. Through further investigation, officers found several items believed to be from the store in the suspect’s possession. Information received indicated the accused was in violation of a valid Probation Order.

Additional information received indicated that earlier in the day, the accused was reported to have entered the same business, when he allegedly took property and uttered death threats to an employee.

As a result, a 23-year-old resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Theft Under $5000
  • Possession of Stolen Property
  • Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm.
  • Breach of Probation
