Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges after being requested to investigate an incident on Six Nations of the Grand River.
Members of the Six Nations Police Service attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Sixth Line near Onondaga Road following a driving complaint at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
The vehicle fled from the area. It was located on River Range Road where it struck a police vehicle, and a Six Nations Police officer discharged their firearm. The vehicle then attempted to flee again and collided with multiple police vehicles before entering a ditch. The driver was taken into custody by the Six Nations Police without further incident and transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
At the request of the Six Nations Police Chief of Police, the OPP took carriage of the investigation and, as a result, charged Brady LONGBOAT, 29-years-old of Six Nations of the Grand River, with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:
• Assault with a weapon, section 267(a) CC – two counts
• Assault peace officer, section 270(1)(a) CC
• Flight from a peace officer, section 320.17 CC
• Operation while prohibited, section 320.18(1)(a) CC
• Operation while prohibited, section 320.18(1)(b) CC
• Operation while impaired, section 320.14 CC
• Dangerous operation, section 320.13 CC
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, section 5(2) CDSA
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Investigators are asking residents and businesses with surveillance cameras in the area of Onondaga Road, Sixth Line and River Range Road to review any footage captured around the time of the incident. Motorists who were travelling through the area are also encouraged to check their dashcam footage for the incident.
The investigation is being conducted by members of crime units from the Haldimand County, Oxford, Brant County and Norfolk County OPP detachments, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. Assistance is being provided by the OPP West Region Regional Support Team and OPP Forensic Identification Services.
