Brantford woman charged with Impaired Operation

Brantford Police were dispatched to attend a report regarding a possible impaired driver at a location near Colborne Street and Clarence Street at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

A concerned citizen called to report that a female appeared to be unconscious behind the wheel of a motor vehicle that was stopped at a Colborne Street gas station pump for an extended period of time.

Officers attended and successfully woke the woman. Items related to drug usage were observed in view. Speaking with the suspect, officers observed signs of impairment.

Search incident to arrest located a variety of prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The accused was read a demand to be examined by a drug recognition expert and transported for a drug recognition expert evaluation to be performed. The evaluating officer formed the opinion that the subject’s ability to operate a conveyance was impaired by drug

As a result of the incident, a 36-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with the following:

  • Impaired Operation – Drug, contrary to the Criminal Code

The motor vehicle was impounded, and the licence was suspended.
