Brantford Police ServiceOne man sent to hospital following Brantford nightclub shooting

One man was shot outside a Colborne Street nightclub during a karaoke birthday party on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

Authorities said the shooting happened outside Marvelous Lounge just after midnight. Officers confirmed that a man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Tim Hautamaki said he was just outside having a smoke at around midnight when he almost got shot.

“I heard a gunshot. My ears were ringing. There was a muzzle flash and then I saw a guy with a – then I saw buddy with an in-and-out wound on his stomach. There was apparently five or six shots fired, but I only heard three,” said Hautamaki.

Hautamaki doesn’t know the name of the man who was shot, but says they were at the nightclub for a birthday party.

He said he didn’t recognize the shooter, but admits he didn’t get a good look at him.

“A tall guy, had his head – had his hair in a bun. And like I said, I didn’t get it. I had a few drinks in me. I didn’t get a full look at the guy. All I heard was the gunshots, a flash and next thing I know my ears were ringing,” said Hautamaki.

The manager of the Marvelous Lounge sprang into action quickly. She ran outside, got everyone who was outside inside the bar and then locked the doors behind her.

“When I heard the first gunshot, one of my customers, she just dove. I thought she got hit. I locked everybody in. Told them to get away from the windows, get to the back of the bar,” said Marvelous Lounge Manager Sam

In her time as manager, Sam says she’s never seen anything like this before.

“It was very scary,” said Sam. “My fear was for my customers, making sure they were safe.”

No arrests have been made at this time.
