Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment members impounded two vehicles for 14-days and issued the driver’s 30-day licence suspensions within 20 minutes of each other Monday evening. The vehicles were caught driving more than 50km/h over the speed limit in two different areas of the County of Brant.
On Monday, November 21, 2022, at approximately 9:53 p.m., an officer with Brant County OPP initiated a traffic stop on Brant-Oxford Road in the County of Brant.
The officer was conducting speed enforcement, when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.
Police have charged a 22-year-old from Brant County with the following offences:
· Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – excessive speed and
· Speeding in excess of 50km/h over the speed limit.
Seventeen minutes later at approximately 10:10 p.m., a second Brant County OPP officer initiated a traffic stop on Highway 403 in the County of Brant.
The officer was also conducting speed enforcement, when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 160 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone.
Police have charged a 23-year-old from Ottawa with the following offences:
· Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – excessive speed,
· Speeding in excess of 50km/h over the speed limit and
· Fail to have insurance card.
The drivers are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.
