Karmiris nets first OHL goal

Brantford’s Lucas Karmiris celebrated his first goal in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Mississauga Steelheads on Sunday, December 18.

He scored the goal in the teams 4-1 loss against the Kitchener Rangers, in the final game before the league’s holiday break.

The 16-year-old forward joined the team at the beginning of this season. In 26 games, he has tallied two assists and 12 penalty minutes in addition to his goal.

Karmiris was selected in the first round, 13th overall by the Steelheads. The right-handed centre had 84 points in 34 games last season with the Brantford 99ers, including 44 goals. He also had 22 points in nine playoff games.

In November, Karmiris represented Canada at the 2022 World U17 Hockey Challenge in Langley and Delta, British Columbia. During tournament, he tallied three goals and three assists in seven games. The team lost 7-1 to Finland in the bronze medal game.
