Brantford man facing Assault and Weapons charges

Officers with the Brantford Police Service received a 911 call from a concerned resident to report a man with a knife on a bike chasing another male in the area of Nelson Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 25.

Officers attended and located the suspect male who was then advised he was under arrest for Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose. 

The accused attempted to flee. Officers pursued on foot and the accused was quickly taken into custody.   

Search incident to arrest revealed the knife allegedly used in the incident was in possession of the accused.

Additionally, investigation revealed the bicycle the accused was riding had previously been reported stolen to the Brantford Police Service and the accused was determined to be in violation of valid probation orders.

As a result of this investigation a 30-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

• Possession of Stolen Goods Under $5000 

• Assault with a Weapon 

• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose 

• Resist Arrest 

• Escape lawful custody 

• Breach of Probation 

The accused was held for bail.

Brantford woman and Paris woman facing multiple charges

Officers with the Brantford Police Service received a call to advise of a possible impaired driver in the area of Market Street at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Sunday June 26, 2022.

Officers attended, located the vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Stanley Street and Dalhousie Street.

In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. 

The driver was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over the legal limit.

Additionally, the driver was determined to be a novice driver (G1) and required to maintain a zero-blood alcohol level.

As a result, a 31-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with the following: 

• Operation While Impaired – Alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code

• Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Level, contrary to the Criminal Code

• Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The licence of the accused was suspended, and the motor vehicle towed and impounded for 7 days. 

Additionally, during the traffic stop, while speaking with the passenger, officers observed signs of intoxication. The passenger appeared to be attempting to conceal a bottle of alcohol under the passenger seat. 

The passenger initially refused to identify herself to police. After being advised she would be arrested for failing to identify, she then provided an identity. 

Investigation revealed an outstanding arrest warrant existed for the identity provided. As officers executed the warrant for arrest, the accused fled on foot in an attempt to evade police.   

After a short foot pursuit, the accused was taken into custody. 

Investigation revealed the identity provided to police was false.

Search incident to arrest located a quantity of several prescription drugs packaged in a manner for sales. 

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old female from Paris, stands charged with the following and was held for bail: 

• Possession controlled substance x2, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 

• Possession for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 

• Obstruction contrary to the Criminal Code

• Identity Fraud contrary to the Criminal Code

Brantford man charged with Breaking and Entering

On Saturday June 25, 2022, at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a break and enter in progress at a community hall located on Henry Street. 

Officers attended and located the accused who was allegedly attempting to gain entry to the building. 

As a result, a 31-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with: 

• Break, Enter A Place – With Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to the Criminal Code 

Brantford man charged with Mischief and Resisting Arrest

On Saturday, June 25, 2022, at approximately 5:15 a.m., the Brantford Police Service received a 911 call to report a fence post had allegedly been thrown thru the window of a residence located on Dundas Street East.

Through investigation, the individual responsible was identified and located by police in the backyard of a neighbouring property, where the accused allegedly caused additional property damage.

When police informed the accused he was under arrest, he attempted to flee on foot. 

After a brief foot pursuit, the accused was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. 

Further investigation revealed that the accused was in violation of two valid probation orders.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old man of Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

• Trespass/Prowl Near Dwelling House

• Mischief Under $5000 x 2

•Breach of Probation 

• Resist Arrest 

The accused was held for bail. 

19-year-old Brantford man charged with Stunt Driving

Officers were in the area of Park Road North conducting speed enforcement and observed a vehicle travelling at a recorded speed of 107 km/hr in a posted 50km/hr zone at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

A traffic stop was conducted. The accused was determined to be a novice licenced driver (G2).

As a result, a 19-year-old male from Brantford stands charged with the following Highway Traffic Act violations:

• Drive motor vehicle perform stunt speeding by 40 or more kilometres per hour in a zone that is less than 80 km/h 

• Speeding 107 km/h in a posted 50 km hour zone

The accused’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and vehicle impounded for 14 days as part of the administrative penalty of the Highway Traffic Act

Police charge Brantford man with Operation While Impaired

On Friday, June 24, 2022, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a call related to a possible impaired driver in the area of Wellington Street and Alfred Street.

Officers attended and located the reported vehicle. Two occupants were observed in the vehicle. The occupants appeared to be unconscious, and the vehicle was running. 

After several attempts, officers successfully awakened the occupants. Signs of impairment were observed. Drug paraphernalia was also observed in clear view.

The accused was arrested for Operation while Impaired by Drug. 

As a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with Operation while Impaired by Drug contrary to the Criminal Code. 

Additionally, a license suspension was issued, and the vehicle impounded as per law.

Brantford man arrested and charged with Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

On Friday, June 24, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Brantford Police Service received a 911 call to report a disturbance involving a weapon at a location on West Street.

A man was reported to be acting erratic, becoming involved in a confrontation with an unknown male. The accused was reported to have waved a knife at the man.

Officers attended and located the accused nearby at a fast-food restaurant. The accused was subsequently arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 

Information received indicated that the accused was in violation of valid court orders.

A search incident to arrest revealed the accused was in possession of a machete and approximately 0.55 grams of suspected fentanyl.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old man from Brantford, stands charged with the following: 

• Possession of Weapons Dangerous, contrary to the Criminal Code

• Breach of Judicial Release, contrary to the Criminal Code

• Breach of Probation, contrary to the Criminal Code 

• Possession, Schedule I, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 

56-year-old Brantford man charged with Mischief

the Brantford Police Service received a report related to vehicle damage at a location on Bain Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022.

The accused was detained by security and was reported to be heavily intoxicated.

Officers attended and observed a vehicle with its rear windshield and driver’s side windows smashed. A large piece of wood was hanging out of the driver’s side window.

Witnesses reported that the accused had allegedly smashed the car windows with the piece of wood.

Information received indicated that the accused was in violation of a valid probation order. 

As a result, a 56-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:

• Mischief under $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code

• Failure to Comply with Probation, contrary to the Criminal Code

• Being intoxicated in Public Place, contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act 

Brantford Police charge man with four counts of Assault

officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a disturbance in the area of Victoria Park, Market Street at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022.

A man was reported to have engaged in a verbal confrontation and subsequently assaulted two individuals (a 38-year-old man and 35-year-old woman) with a stick.

The victims sustained minor injuries.

After the assault, the accused fled on foot.

A brief foot chase occurred with officers locating and arresting the accused nearby at approximately 12:20 p.m.  

Information received indicated the accused was in violation of valid probation orders.

As result of this investigation, a 25-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

• Possession of Weapons Dangerous  

• Assault Cause Bodily Harm X 2 

• Assault with a Weapon x 2 

• Breach of Probation 

The accused was held for bail. 

Brantford Police charge man with Mischief

On Friday, June 24, 2022, at approximately 8:45 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a property damage related call at a parking garage located on Icomm Drive.

A man was reported to have been observed by security spray painting the parking garage stairwell.

Officers attended and located the accused.

Information received indicted that the accused was in violation of valid court orders.

As a result, a 29-year-old man from Brantford (no fixed address) stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

• Mischief under $5,000 

• Failure to comply with undertaking 

• Breach of probation order 

31-year-old Brantford woman charged with Mischief

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a disturbance at a Dundas Street East residence at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022.

It was reported that a female, who had appeared to be heavily intoxicated, allegedly entered the victim’s residence thru an unlocked door.

When asked to leave the residence, the accused initially refused, became irate, caused minor property damage, and then exited the home. 

While outside, the accused then was reported to have thrown a propane tank at the victim’s vehicle.

Officers attended, and located the accused nearby, who was then arrested.

Search incident to arrest located a large quantity of cannabis in the possession of the accused. 

As a result, a 31-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

• Mischief Under $5000

• Unlawfully in Dwelling House

• Possession of over 30G Dried Cannabis (or equivalent) in a Public Place
