Brantford doula fraudster charged by Hamilton police

Local NewsBrantford doula fraudster charged by Hamilton police

A woman who was previously charged and sentenced for fraudulently using doula services in Brantford has been arrested for a similar offence in Hamilton.

Kaitlyn Grace Braun was arrested last year after she falsified multiple stillbirths and pregnancies in an effort to utilize doula services.

She pleaded guilty to 21 charges and was sentenced to two years of house arrest and three years of probation.

At the time of her sentencing, the court heard she was likely to re-offend unless she underwent therapy.

On Wednesday, she was arrested by Hamilton police for a similar offence in Brantford.

Officers say that an investigation into allegations made against Braun has led them to take her into custody after she was found to be falsely soliciting “support related to a pregnancy and childbirth.”

She faces multiple criminal charges, including harassing communications, obtaining by false pretence and a count for allegedly breaching the conditions of a sentence order.

Police say Braun will remain in custody following an early morning bail hearing, which was held Wednesday.
