Annual Thank-A-Vet Luncheon returns this November

Local NewsAnnual Thank-A-Vet Luncheon returns this November

The 29th annual Thank-A-Vet Luncheon will once again be held at the TF Warren Group Cainsville Community Centre on Saturday, November 7, 2026.

A longstanding community tradition since 1998, the event brings the community together to honour the Canadian men and women who have served the country, recognize their service and contributions, and reaffirm that their dedication and sacrifices will never be forgotten.

The event is also a chance for community members to connect with veterans, hear their stories and share in a meaningful day of remembrance, appreciation and fellowship.

The doors to the Cainsville Community Centre will open at 11 a.m. with formal programming starting promptly at 11:45 a.m.

Residents of the City of Brantford, County of Brant, Six Nations of the Grand River and beyond are all invited to attend. Tickets are available for $45 each.

Veterans, along with their spouses, widows, widowers and Memorial Cross recipients are welcome to attend at no cost.

This year, no physical tickets will be issued. To make the registration process simpler and more convenient, attendees can register in one of three ways:

  • Online at www.thank-a-vet.ca
  • By email at tavtickets@gmail.com
  • By phone at 548-885-1510

Dave Levac and Bill Chopp, Co-Chairs of the Thank-A-Vet Committee, said in a media release that they were looking forward to welcoming everyone to the event.

“We’re proud to once again bring the luncheon to the TF Warren Group Cainsville Community Centre, offering a beautiful and welcoming space where we can continue to come together and show our appreciation for our veterans,” they said. “This year, we’ve also simplified the registration process by eliminating physical tickets and providing three convenient ways for people to register, making it easier for everyone to participate in this special event.”

Understanding that not all veterans will be able to attend in person, the Thank-A-Vet Committee will also be providing gift bags to area veterans who are unable to be there in person.

The committee asks that if anyone knows of a veteran who would like to receive a gift bag, or if they themselves are a veteran and can not attend, to please contact them to arrange a delivery.

“We understand that not all veterans are able to attend the luncheon in person,” said Levac. “That’s why we’re continuing the tradition of delivering gift bags following the event to veterans who are unable to join us.”

Registration for gift bags can also be done by visiting emailing at tavtickets@gmail.com or calling 548-885-1510.

This year, the Thank-A-Vet Committee has also received a generous donation from Rose Minutillo. Together with a knitting group of students from Assumption College, the group has hand-knitted and donated lap blankets for all of the veterans who attend the lunch.

“This thoughtful gift is a beautiful way to show our veterans how much they are appreciated and valued by our community,” said Levac.
