Brant OPPOPP traffic stop leads to Obstruct Police charge

A Brantford resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Sour Springs Road.

A member of the Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol when a black Ford caught their interest after the officer was alerted by the Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system of a possible validation expiry at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024.

A traffic stop was initiated. Upon speaking to the driver and conducting a Ministry of Transportation (MTO) query it was determined that the driver falsely identified themselves.

As a result, Jeremy PEARCE, a 47-year-old of Brantford, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Drive Motor vehicle – No Licence

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on July 26th, 2024.
