Charges have been laid against an Ohsweken resident for driving impaired with a child in the vehicle.  

Six Nations Police were advised of an impaired driving complaint at approximately 10:04 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025.

The complainant advised that there was a vehicle in the area on Sixth Line and Tuscarora Road driving erratically. Police were advised by the witness that the vehicle had pulled into a local business on Chiefswood Road. Police arrived in the area and were directed to the vehicle involved by the witness. Police spoke with the female driver. Signs of impairment were detected on the driver. Police observed that there was also a child in the vehicle.  

As a result of the investigation, police have arrested and charged a female from  Ohsweken, Ontario with the following criminal offences: 

– Impaired Operation 

– Alcohol per se Offence 

– Dangerous Driving 

– Abandoning Child  

The name of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the child. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford, Ontario on a later date.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days, and the accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.
