OPP issue shelter in place order for Six Nations community

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued a shelter-in-place order for the area of Onondaga Road and Sixth Line in the Ohsweken Six Nations First Nation community at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Officers were responding to an incident in the area involving an armed suspect. The shelter-in-place was issued in response to an incident earlier in the morning involving an armed suspect. A heavy police presence continues while Six Nations Police Service continues with their investigation. There is believed to be no threat to public safety.

The shelter in place order was lifted approximately four hours later, just after 11:00 a.m. on August 30.
