Impaired driver charged after single vehicle collision in construction zone

Brant OPPImpaired driver charged after single vehicle collision in construction zone

One person is facing impaired driving charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members investigated a single-vehicle collision early Sunday morning in the County of Brant.

Officers with the Brant County OPP responded to a reported collision in a construction zone on Brant Road near German School Road in the County of Brant at approximately 1:01 a.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

Police located a passenger in the vehicle and later located the driver after residents in the area called police about an unknown person on their property. There were no reported injuries.

One person was arrested and transported to Brant County detachment for testing.

Police have charged 29-year-old Claudio Luigi SAGGESE, from Brantford with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Fail to Remain and
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.
