26-year-old facing Impaired Driving charges

Patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a vehicle travelling at excessive speeds in the area of Stanley Street near Darling Street and conducted a traffic stop at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2022.

When speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of intoxication. A demand for an approved screening device was issued. The accused performed the test and registered a fail.

The accused was subsequently arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law.

Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit.

As a result, a 26-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code. 

Additionally, the accused was served notice of suspension, and the vehicle was impounded. 

Police charge Brantford man with Operation While Impaired

Officers with the Brantford Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Morton Avenue and West Street at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022.

Officers attended and located the suspect vehicle in the area of Market Street and Grey Street. The vehicle was being operated in an erratic manner. 

Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Pearl and Waterloo Street. In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.

A demand for an approved screening device was issued. The accused failed to comply with the demand to provide a suitable sample of breath as required by law.

As a result, a 29-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Operation While Impaired 
  • Failure or refusal to comply 

Additionally, the accused was served notice of suspension, and the vehicle was impounded. 

Brantford woman charged with Operation While Impaired

On Saturday, August 27, 2022, at approximately 1:45 A.M., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service observed a possible impaired driver in the area of Powerline Road and Park Road North.

Officers observed the vehicle travelling in an erratic manner and a traffic stop was conducted.

In speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. 

A demand for an approved screening device was issued. The accused performed the test and registered a fail.

The accused was then arrested for Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration level and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over the legal limit. 

Search incident to arrest located an open container of alcohol within the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with: 

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Control Act 

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.

Ohsweken man facing multiple charges after hit and run

On Thursday, August 26, 2022, at approximately 5:45 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a hit and run in the area of Conklin Road and Mount Pleasant Street.

Witness reports assisted police to locate the suspect vehicle and driver on Phelps Road. 

In speaking with the driver, signs of impairment were observed. Open liquor was observed within reach of the driver.

The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were three times the legal limit.

Information received indicated the accused did not have a valid license.

As a result, a 28-year-old man from Ohsweken stands charged with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Failure to Stop After Accident, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Fail to Report Accident, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Control Act
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the vehicle was impounded.

Police charge man with Operation While Impaired

Officers with the Brantford Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen to report a possible impaired driver at a fast-food restaurant located on Market Street South at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

Officers arrived on scene and located the accused. In speaking with the accused, signs of impairment were observed.

A demand for an approved screening device was issued. The accused performed the test and registered a fail.

The accused was then arrested for Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration level and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over twice the legal limit. 

As a result, a 42-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration

Additionally, a licence suspension was issued, and the vehicle impounded.

Brantford woman facing charges after multi-vehicle collision

On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a multiple motor vehicle collision at Mount Pleasant Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23.

Officers attended the scene as well as the fire department and paramedics. Occupants of the three vehicles involved in the collision received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. 

In speaking with the driver of one vehicle, officers observed signs of impairment and a demand for an approved screening device was issued. The accused performed the test and registered a fail.

The accused was then arrested for Operation While Impaired- Blood Alcohol Concentration level.

Samples of breath were provided as required by law. Both samples provided were in excess of three times the legal limit.

As a result, a 37-year-old female from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 

  • Operation While Impaired 
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration level

Additionally, the driver’s license of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.

32-year-old woman facing fraud and theft charges

On Sunday, August 21, 2022, at approximately 12:15 p.m., the Brantford police received a report that a woman’s purse had allegedly been stolen and fraudulent charges were made using the victim’s credit and debit cards.

Police investigation, along with assistance from the victim, led to the location of the accused at her residence where she was then arrested.

As a result, a 32-year-old woman from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Fraud Under $5,000 x3
  • Possession and Use Credit Card x3 

Hamilton man charged after motor vehicle collision in Brantford

On Saturday, August 20, 2022, at approximately 9:45 P.M., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to the area of West Street at Charing Cross, in regard to a motor vehicle collision involving a possible impaired driver.

It was reported that a vehicle had collided with several other vehicles parked on the roadway. The driver of the vehicle was reported to be impaired. Officers attended, and speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment. 

The accused was placed under arrest for impaired operation and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were in excess of three times the legal limit.

As a result, a 38-year-old man from Hamilton stands charged with the following:

  • Operation while Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Operation while Impaired- blood alcohol concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Careless Driving, contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act 

Additionally, the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended, and the subject vehicle impounded.

Hamilton woman charged with Operation While Impaired

Brantford Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen to report a possible impaired driver at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, August 20.

A report was received to advise that, a woman was believed to be unconscious in her vehicle in a parking lot located at West Street and Fairview Drive. 

Police arrived on scene and located the vehicle. The accused, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was observed in the driver’s seat.

Speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of impairment. The accused was placed under arrest for impaired operation and given the demand for a drug recognition evaluation.

A drug recognition expert evaluation was performed. The evaluating officer formed the opinion that the subject’s ability to operate a conveyance was impaired by drugs. 

As a result, a 36-year-old female from Hamilton stands charged with Operation while Impaired (drug), contrary to the Criminal Code. 

Additionally, the vehicle was impounded.
