Brantford police have charged a 21-year-old man after a bullet he fired while target shooting hit a man at a construction site on Bowery Rd.

On March 9, a man was found with a single gunshot wound and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers say two vehicles at Wright St. and two homes at Macklin St. were also damaged by gunfire. At the time of the incident, the homes and vehicles were unoccupied and no other injuries were reported.

A 21-year-old from Brantford was arrested and charged on Monday with careless use of a firearm.

Police have not released his name.

Officers say investigation revealed that the accused is alleged to have fired multiple shots from a rifle while target shooting on a Oakhill Dr. property.

Police seized the target shooter’s firearms license, along with ten guns and ammunition.

The victims were unknown to the accused and this was not believed to be a targeted incident.
