Members of the Brantford Police Service Drug and Firearm Enforcement Unit seized over $29,000 in illegal psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and arrested a 28-year-old man from Hamilton for trafficking after executing a search warrant at an illegal retail psilocybin storefront in Brantford.

On June 18, 2025, members of the Brantford Police Service Drug and Firearm Enforcement Unit launched an investigation into an illegal psilocybin retail storefront located on Murray Street near Chatham Street in Brantford, after information was received that the illegal business had reopened after previously being shut down.

On July 2, 2025, a search warrant was executed at the storefront and as a result of the search warrant, police seized 2596.5 grams of psilocybin with an estimated street value of $29,674. 

A 28-year-old man from Hamilton was arrested at the scene and stands charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Schedule III, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The Brantford Police Service Core Engagement and Response Unit, Criminal Intelligence Unit and Forensic Identification all played an important part in this investigation.
