Brantford Police said a 38-year-old Good Samaritan was shot and killed while intervening in an altercation on Sunday, April 5, 2026.

The shooting happened in the area of Erie and Gladstone avenues outside of a convenience store around 8:15 p.m.

Investigators have determined that the 38-year-old man killed in the shooting was trying to intervene in an altercation before he was shot.

As a result, a 35-year-old Brantford man stands charged with the following offences:

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Breach of Probation Order

The accused is being held for bail hearing.
