County of Brant is inviting residents to come together and celebrate Earth Week, taking place April 19 to 26, with a variety of activities and initiatives designed to inspire environmental stewardship and community involvement.
“Earth Week is a time to recognize that even small actions can have a big impact,” said Trent Meyers, Forestry Supervisor for the County of Brant. “Residents are encouraged to participate in local events, volunteer opportunities, and sustainable practices that help protect and enhance the natural environment we all share.”
One of the highlights of the week is a Community Tree Planting event taking place at Rising Park from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Volunteers will help the County of Brant plant approximately 1,000 trees, contributing to a greener and healthier community. No registration is required, and participants are encouraged to bring gloves, a shovel, and weather-appropriate gear.
In celebration of Earth Week, groups are invited to get involved by selecting a local park or trail to clean up. Supplies, including bags and gloves, will be provided. To arrange a cleanup day, please contact parksandrec@brant.ca.
Residents can also take part in Earth Week by joining the Adopt-A-Road program, which encourages volunteers to help keep local roads clean by committing to three cleanups each year between April 15 and November 15.
As well, the County of Brant Public Library will offer Earth Week activities include an Earth Day Scavenger Hunt, access to free park passes, and opportunities to explore the library’s Seed Library and outdoor adventure gear, helping residents connect with nature in new and meaningful ways.
The County encourages residents to explore environmental programs and resources available year-round, including composting, recycling, climate action initiatives, and forestry and natural area programs. Rain barrels and composters are available for purchase at the Burford and Paris Customer Service Offices, Paris Waste Transfer and Recycling Statiion and Biggars Lane Landfill Site.
“Earth Week is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, give back, and take pride in our natural spaces,” said Meyers. “We invite everyone to participate and help make a positive impact in the County of Brant.”
