Brantford Police Service26-year-old man charged with operation while impaired
On Saturday, October 23, 2021, officers on patrol with the Brantford Police Service observed a suspicious vehicle within a convenience store parking lot on Erie Avenue.
The vehicle was running, with the driver observed to be asleep behind the wheel. Officers woke the male and when speaking with the accused, observed signs of impairment.
As a result, the accused was arrested for Operation while Impaired. While the arrest was being made, the accused attempted to resist.
Search incident to arrest found open liquor within the vehicle, and a bag containing a white powdered substance believed to be illegal narcotics.
A Drug Evaluation was completed by a drug evaluator expert. The accused performed poorly.
As a result, a 26-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following:
•Operation while impaired contrary to the Criminal Code, 
•Resist arrest, contrary to the Criminal Code, 
•Possession of schedule I, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and 
•Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open liquor readily available contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. 
A licence suspension was issued and the vehicle impounded as per law.
