Officers with the Brantford Police Service investigated a possible impaired driver after a vehicle travelled the wrong way on a one-way road and hit a police vehicle at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2023.

Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. The accused was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over three times the legal limit.

As a result, a 32-year-old female resident of Brantford stands charged with the following:

  • Operation while Impaired, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation while Impaired, BAC, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Drive Wrong Way – One-Way Traffic, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Novice Driver, B.A.C. Above Zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the vehicle was impounded, and the licence of the driver was suspended.
