Brantford police have charged a 50-year-old man accused of entering a home without permission and assaulting a woman inside Monday afternoon.

Officers received a report of a woman seen chasing a man with a knife shortly before 12:30 p.m. in the area of Brant and St. Paul avenues.

Investigators say the man was allegedly inside of the home without authorization and assaulted the woman who then chased him out.

The woman sustained minor injuries.

Officers confirm it was not a random attack as the man knew another resident of the home.

Police have arrested and charged the Brantford man with Assault and Unlawfully in a dwelling.

The man was held for bail.
