Welland Jackfish scored nine runs in three of the last four innings on their way to a 9-2 victory over the Brantford Red Sox on Friday, May 30, 2025.
Brantford got off to a solid start, led by SP Connor Irvine. Irvine set down the first three Jackfish hitters in order, including two strikeouts. In the bottom half of the first, the Red Sox hitters got lucky with four consecutive singles, including two bloop singles down the right field line to take an early 2-0 lead.

Irvine continued to impress in the second inning, striking out two of the four batters he faced while only allowing one hit, a single to right field. Welland SP Jose Dominguez found his stride in the bottom half of the inning, recording three quick outs while facing four batters.

Both Irvine and Dominguez kept the hitters at bay over the next three innings before Welland took advantage of their opportunities in the top of the sixth. The Jackfish capitalized on a hit batter and strung together four straight singles to take a 4-2 lead.

Welland continued to get to the Red Sox pitching in the seventh and eighth innings, scoring five more runs to take a commanding 9-2 lead. Brantford’s bats went silent over the home stretch as the Jackfish held on for the victory.
