CrimeTwo people found guilty of killing OPP Const. Pierzchala

Randall McKenzie and Brandi Stewart-Sperry have been found guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of 28-year-old OPP Const. Greg Pierzchala.

The jury handed down their verdict just after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Both McKenzie and Stewart-Sperry received a life sentence in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.

Const. Pierzchala was shot and killed while responding to a car in a ditch near Hagersville on Dec. 27, 2022.

That morning, he was told he had passed his probation period with the OPP.

Following the verdict, OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique released a joint statement with the Pierzchala family.

“The conclusion of this trial has weighed heavily on all of us. The verdict is an important step as we focus on moving forward with continuing the important work Greg started and contributing to the ever-lasting impact he had on so many people personally and professionally,” the statement read.
