Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend an assault related call for service at a Lynden Road restaurant at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
It was reported that while within the establishment, two men were allegedly creating a disturbance for other patrons and became involved in a verbal dispute within the establishment which escalated to physical violence and additional threats of violence, upon being asked to leave.
While in the establishment, one of the accused men allegedly assaulted two employees. The second accused man is alleged to have assaulted an employee before throwing a stool at another.
Officers attended and located the two accused men within a motor vehicle, attempting to leave the parking lot. A traffic stop was initiated and both men were placed under arrest.
Speaking with the driver of the motor vehicle, officers observed signs of impairment. The accused was transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples were over the legal limit.
As a result, a 50-year-old male non-resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Mischief – Interfere with Lawful Use, Enjoyment or Operation of Property
- Assault x 2
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration
Additionally, a 41-year-old male, non-resident of Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:
- Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Mischief – Interfere with Lawful Use, Enjoyment or Operation of Property
