Members of the Brantford Police Service have arrested and charged two men in connection with multiple break and enters and thefts of electrical wiring from a secured construction site on Erie Avenue in the City of Brantford.

On Tuesday December 9, 2025, at approximately 7:40 a.m., police were dispatched to the construction site after a report that thousands of dollars worth of electrical wiring had been stolen from a generator used to power the construction project. The complainant also reported several previous thefts that occurred on several other days earlier in the week.

Upon arrival, officers learned that suspects had climbed a locked perimeter fence and removed wiring and multiple articles. These thefts caused significant operational delays for the site. While investigating, police were able to obtain suspect descriptions, and officers conducted checks of local scrap-metal facilities.

At 8:33 a.m., officers located two male suspects at the rear fence of a scrap-metal facility at a nearby location, in possession of the stolen wiring and were confirmed to be the males involved in the reported incident based. Both men were arrested without incident.

A search of both men resulted in the seizure of break-and-enter tools, clothing worn during the offences, and other items believed to be associated with the thefts.

Both males were transported to the Brantford Police Service and held for bail. As a result of the investigation, a 48-year old male has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter with Intent – Sec. 348(1)(b), Criminal Code
  • Theft Under $5000 – Sec. 334(b), Criminal Code
  • Mischief Under $5000 – Sec. 430(4), Criminal Code
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 – Sec. 355(b), Criminal Code
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments – Sec. 351(1), Criminal Code
  • Failure to Comply with Probation – Sec. 733.1(1), Criminal Code

As a result of the investigation, a 42-year old male has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter with Intent – Sec. 348(1)(b), Criminal Code
  • Theft Under $5000 – Sec. 334(b), Criminal Code
  • Mischief Under $5000 – Sec. 430(4), Criminal Code
  • Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000 – Sec. 355(b), Criminal Code
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments – Sec. 351(1), Criminal Code
  • Failure to Comply with Probation ×3 – Sec. 733.1(1), Criminal Code
