Brant OPPTraffic stop leads to multiple arrests by Brant County OPP

The Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two individuals and seized several prohibited items following a traffic stop on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police conducted a traffic stop on a U-Haul pickup truck on Colborne Street West between Airport Road and McGregor Avenue at approximately 1:42 a.m.

The driver was found to have a suspended driver’s license due to unpaid fines. The driver was subsequently arrested for driving while under suspension.

During the stop, the female passenger was also found to have an active warrant from Almaguin Highlands OPP.

A search of the vehicle incident to the arrests revealed several items of interest, including identity documents, prohibited weapons, a suspected opioid substance and drug paraphernalia.

The driver, Jason LOWE, a 42-year-old from Nipissing, was charged with the following:

–      Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Weapons under Criminal Code – two counts

–      Failing to Comply with a Probation Order and

–      Possession of an Identity Document, violating the terms of a probation order

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid

–      Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
