The always popular Scare in the Square event is returning to Brantford for two days, Friday, October 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Halloween-themed activities will take place at Harmony Square, located at 89 Dalhousie Street, with additional activities taking place at Mohawk Park, located at 51 Lynnwood Drive.

The annual event is hosted by the City of Brantford, in partnership with Downtown Brantford Business Improvement Area (BIA).

“Scare in the Square is back in full swing this year and is sure to be better than ever,” said Jennifer Middleton, Coordinator of Special Events for the City of Brantford. “We are so grateful for the support of our local sponsors and community partners who help make this event a success.”

Dress-up in your best Halloween costume for a chance to win prizes. Enjoy spook-tacular activities including trick-or treating, costume contests, Casper’s Craft Corner, Halloween Roller Skate presented by West Brant Window World, tractor drawn hayrides by Millards Chartered Professional Accountants, scarecrow and pumpkin carving displays and contest, HOWL-o-ween Dog Parade presented by Global Pet Food, amusement rides presented by Hudson Public and more. Free trick-or-treat bags will be given to those who donate non-perishable food items for the Brantford Food Bank on Saturday, October 8, while supplies last.

For those looking for a few spookier options, go for a Ghost Hunt in the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts or try one of two Escape Rooms; the Clown’s Dressing Room or the Witches’ Hut. Children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult to enter the Escape Rooms. Take the free shuttle bus presented by Heads or Tails Gaming Inc. to Mohawk Park where the fun continues. Test your spook-o-meter at the Halloween movie themed Haunted House for ages 14 and over, unless with an adult, and see if you have what it takes at the Zombie Survival Run.

The evening continues with Live music with the Heckle Band performing famous rock hits at 7:00 p.m. and headliner BarCode will perform classic rock and top 40 hits at 8:30 p.m. All activities and admittance are free with exception to the Haunted House, Escape Rooms, amusement rides, Ghost Hunt and Hayride. Discounted package rates are available.  On-site registration is required for roller skating and Retro Rollers Inc. rentals are first-come-first-serve for your shoe size.
