Police charge Brantford man with six counts of Assault

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a disturbance related call in the area of Icomm Drive and Market Street South at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

A report was received to advise that a man had allegedly removed his pants and was physically and verbally aggressive towards area security and area patrons after being asked to leave the premises. The accused is alleged to have utilized two fiberglass poles to assault and threaten a man who was attempting to deescalate the situation. 

Officers attended and placed the accused under arrest. During the arrest, the accused was resistant, allegedly kicking one officer and biting another.

It was determined that the accused was in violation of a valid Judicial Release Order.

As a result of the incident, a 47-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Assault x3
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Assault a Peace Officer x2
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Resist Arrest
  • Cause Disturbance
  • Failure to Comply with Judicial Release / Non-Comm Order – Release Order
