Police arrest two men after dispute at local motel

Two men were arrested and charged with weapons related offences after a disturbance at a Colborne Street motel.

Officers responded to a weapons related call for service at a motel located at Colborne Street and James Avenue at approximately 6:20 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026.

It was reported that there was a disturbance in progress involving four people; one man was reported to be armed with a knife and another man with brass knuckles. No physical injuries were reported.

As a result of the incident, a 24-year-old man from Brantford was arrested and stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm

Additionally, a 37-year-old man from Brantford was arrested and stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Prohibited Device – Brass Knuckles

Both of the accused were held for bail.
