A Paris, Ont., man is facing charges, including attempted murder, in connection with a shooting involving a police officer.

The incident occurred during an attempted arrest on May 29 in the area of Scenic Ridge Gate in Brant.

Following an interaction with the accused, Brantford police say an officer discharged their firearm. The suspect fled in a vehicle and was later located in the area of St. George St. and Belaire Rd. in Brantford.

Ontario’s police watchdog announced an investigation into the incident shortly after. 

The unnamed 27-year-old Paris, Ont., man faces four charges, including attempted murder and dangerous operation of a vehicle. 

He was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Tuesday.
