Officers with the Brantford Police Service have arrested a man for unlawfully confining multiple people in a local motel.

Members were dispatched to a motel located at Colborne Street and Clara Crescent after receiving a report of a man holding multiple people against their will within a motel room at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Officers attended and a male suspect was taken into police custody. A machete was located within the room and seized. No physical injuries were reported. 

Seven other people were located within the motel room, two of which were arrested on outstanding warrants: a 27-year-old man from Etobicoke and a 31-year-old female from Jackson’s Point.

As a result of the incident, a 39-year-old man from Ohsweken stands charged with the following:

  • Forcible Confinement x 2
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Intimidation – Use Violence
  • Utter Threat to Cause Death x 2
  • Breach of Probation

The accused was held for bail.
