Members of the Brantford Police Service Core Engagement and Response Team (C.E.R.T.) conducted a drug investigation in downtown Brantford on Tuesday, September 1, 2026,
During the investigation, police identified and arrested a male suspect for trafficking illegal drugs in Victoria Park near Market Street.
A search conducted following the arrest resulted in the seizure of:
- 3.9 grams of fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $780.
- 8.4 grams of crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of $1,280.
- Twelve hydromorphone pills, with an estimated street value of $240.
- Canadian currency.
- A set of brass knuckles.
- Drug trafficking paraphernalia
As a result of the investigation, a 55-year-old man from Brantford has been charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Schedule I — Fentanyl, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
- Possession for the Purpose of Schedule I — Cocaine, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
- Possession for the Purpose of Schedule I — Hydromorphone, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, contrary to Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
In total, police seized 12.3 grams of controlled substances, twelve pills, and a prohibited weapon, with an estimated combined street value of approximately $2,300.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
