BRANTFORD –Brantford Police Service said today detectives have arrested an 82-year-old man in connection with an assault between two residents at a retirement home located on Diana Avenue.

The sole retirement home on that street is a Seasons Retirement Communities complex at 55 Diana Ave.

Officers responded to an assault call on September 5, 2021, at approximately 2:50 p.m., after an 89-year-old-female resident was reported to have been struck by an 82-year-old male resident of the same facility, says the BPS release.

The assault caused the woman to fall and strike her head and she was taken to hospital where she died of her injuries, according to police.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged the involved man with manslaughter. The accused, who was not named was held in police custody and will appear before the court today.
