Local McDonald’s and community rally behind Arnold Anderson Sport Fund

Local NewsLocal McDonald’s and community rally behind Arnold Anderson Sport Fund

Brantford’s McDonald’s Canada franchisees and crew turned McHappy Day into a historic win for local kids. Thanks to generous customers and staff-led fundraising, the Arnold Anderson Sport Fund (AASF) will now enable over 100 youth to hit the playing field this year.

A Community-Powered Gift

On McHappy Day, Brantford restaurants donated a portion of every sale to charities supporting children. This year, a share of proceeds was earmarked for the Arnold Anderson Sport Fund—bolstering a mission to remove financial barriers to sport for low-income families across the City of Brantford, County of Brant and Six Nations of the Grand River.

AASF Director Brent Gordon reflects,

“We continue to be amazed by our community’s generosity. No child should be denied the joy of sports due to cost. With partners like McDonald’s and the incredible support of Brantford residents, ‘Sports for ALL Kids’ moves from dream to reality—keeping Arnold Anderson’s legacy alive.”

The Arnold Anderson Sport Fund would like to thank the following people for making this event possible and such a tremendous success – Bruce Graham, owner of our local McDonald’s, Rick Delgiallo, Lynn Fletcher, all the McDonald’s employees as well as the community for their continued support.

The AASF offers eligible, low-income City of Brantford, County of Brant and Six Nations of the Grand River families an opportunity to apply once a year to receive a financial sports grant. Their ‘Sponsor A Child’ program allows them to provide financial assistance to eligible children up to $400.00 per year, to compensate for registration fees. It has been shown that participation in sports boosts physical health, mental well-being and life skills.

Thanks to our volunteers, donors, sponsors and community partners like McDonald’s, the Arnold Anderson Sport Fund is poised for another year of “Sports for ALL Kids.”
