Immigration Partnership to host Newcomer Welcome Day

City of BrantfordImmigration Partnership to host Newcomer Welcome Day

Brantford Immigration Partnership (BIP) will be hosting a Newcomer Welcome Day on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

This family-friendly event, which is open to new Canadians living in Brantford and members of the public, will feature an information fair where attendees can learn about key programs and services available in the community, while enjoying food, refreshments, and entertainment from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mohawk Park Pavilion.

“We are very excited to once again host our Newcomer Welcome Day in Mohawk Park,” said David Vujasinovich, Community Initiatives Coordinator for the City of Brantford. “The goal of this event is to connect newcomers within the community and share valuable information about programs and services offered by our partners across all sectors.”

Children are welcome to bring their bathing suits and cool off in the Sprinklemania Splash Pad. Food and refreshments will be available, while supplies last.

“Supporting new Canadians and their families is an important priority of our Inclusive Community Plan,” said Kevin Davis, Mayor for the City of Brantford. “On behalf of City Council, we’re proud to see so many community partners come together to showcase Brantford as a vibrant, welcoming place to call home.”

Community groups and service providers interested in having a resource booth at the event can register at brantford.ca/BIPEvents. About the Brantford Immigration Partnership

The Brantford Immigration Partnership (BIP) launched in April 2020 to help build a better understanding of the unique perspectives of immigrants, strengthen community partnerships to enhance services, and celebrate inclusion and cultural diversity in our city. BIP is a dedicated group of community partners who are working to ensure that the City of Brantford continues to be a welcoming and inclusive community for all. Learn more at www.Brantford.ca/BIP.

In May 2022, the Brantford Immigration Partnership endorsed the recommendation brought forward to City Council for the City of Brantford to join the UNESCO Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities (CIC). This membership highlights the City’s ongoing commitment to work with local organizations and experts to create a community where everyone can fully participate in social, economic, political and cultural opportunities.
