Brant OPPHamilton man charged after falling asleep in drive-thru

A Hamilton resident is facing charges following a traffic complaint in the A&W parking lot in Brant County.

A member of the Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a complaint regarding a driver behind the wheel in an A&W drive-thru at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

The complainant tried several times to wake the driver without success. Upon speaking to the driver of the vehicle, the officer detected signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

Christopher MCEWEN, 39-years-old of Hamilton, has been charged with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired and,
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on March 8th, 2024, to answer to the charges.
