Hagersville woman charged with Impaired Operation (Drug)

Brantford Police Service received a report from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Friday, March 11.

The citizen advised she observed a female driver slouched over the steering wheel of a vehicle, parked on Lynnwood Drive. 

Officers attended the area, located the vehicle at Lynnwood Drive and Colborne Street and initiated a traffic stop.

While speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of impairment. The accused was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation (Drug) and transported to complete evaluation before a Drug Recognition Officer.

Search incident to arrest located suspected Oxycocet (opiate), along with drug paraphernalia in possession of the accused. 

A Drug Recognition Expert evaluation was completed, where it was found that the accused’s ability to operate a conveyance was impaired by drug.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old woman from Hagersville, stands charged with the following: 

  • Operation while Impaired – Drug – contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Possession Schedule 1 – Other Drug – contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act

Additionally, the accused’s license was suspended, and the vehicle impounded as per law.
