Fire at Brantford business deemed suspicious by police

Brantford Police are continuing to investigate a suspicious fire that occurred near downtown Brantford in the early morning hours of May 21, 2026.

According to authorities, the fire happened around 3:00 a.m. at a business located on Colborne Street near Peel Street.

Officers said the business was partially engulfed in flames when they arrived on scene. Fire crews worked to contain and extinguish the blaze. Brantford police attended the scene and have since taken over the investigation.

Several people were inside the building at the time of the incident but no injuries have been reported.

Investigators now believe the fire was intentionally set.

Anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the fire and witnessed any suspicious activity is asked to contact police at 519-756-7050. Residents and businesses in the area who may have dash camera or security footage are being urged to come forward.
