Myrtleville House Museum will be offering a variety of March Break activities suitable for the whole family, from Monday, March 10, through March 14, 2025.
Esther Brouwer, Myrtleville’ s Education Program Coordinator, said each day will be broken into two parts.
“Throughout the week we’re going to be doing some different kinds of settler activities in the morning, and then in the afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. we’ll have tours of the house, some crafts, hot chocolate, and as long as the weather permits it, an outdoor campfire with marshmallows,” she said.
The morningtime settler activities, which will run from 10:00 a.m. to noon, include pioneer butter making on Monday, baking apple fritters on Tuesday, candle making on Wednesday, baking potato fritters on Thursday, and silhouette art on Friday.
“On Tuesday, we’re actually going to be using one of the original Daunt family recipes to make the apple fritters, and the potato fritters we’re making on Friday come from another old pioneer recipe too,” said Brouwer. “Now, on Wednesday, the candle making will be outside, but again, that’s weather permitting, so we have to bring it inside.”
For those interested in attending any one of the events, there is no requirement to register, however if people are planning to be there for the whole day, a $5.00 donation to the museum is recommended.
Overall, Brouwer said she’s looking forward to another fun week of programming.
“March Break is one of my really fun weeks of programming here at Myrtleville so I just love putting this on and I’m looking forward to it,” she said.
