The County of Brant launched a public fundraising campaign for the Cowan Community Health Hub.
The Health Hub was recently renamed in honour of the Cowan Foundation’s $800,000 donation last week.
“We are so pleased to announce that we have raised 80% of the $2 million dollar fundraising goal for the Health Hub,” said County of Brant Mayor David Bailey. “Businesses, organizations and individuals have been incredibly generous, gifting major donations, and now we need you to help us finish this campaign. Every donation matters and will be recognized on the donor wall. Whether you can give $10 or $1000, we need your help to bring this dream into reality.”
The Health Hub will attract new family physicians to the community and be home to a number of health care and social service organizations. The Hub is designed to encourage collaboration amongst the organizations to deliver a more seamless and integrated approach to health care and mental health care for residents.
“As the County continues to grow, the needs within our community also evolve,” said Bailey. “We are striving to be a healthy community for all people who choose to call Brant home and the Health Hub is one major step in the right direction.”
The County of Brant designed the Health Hub to also be a healthy building. The building features many sustainable and green features including vegetated “green” roof, highly insulated building envelope, solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations, and energy efficient fixtures and equipment.
The Health Hub’s construction began in the summer of 2020 and the major fundraising campaign launched in early 2021. The Health Hub is expected to open in November 2021.
