Members of the County of Brant Fire Department will hold a controlled burn on Saturday October 1, 2022.
New Fire recruits will have another opportunity to practice fire suppression skills in a controlled environment and under the supervision of the Fire Training Officer.

The training exercise will take place at 982 Rest Acres Road in Paris, which will be the second time the location has been used for a controlled burn.
“We encourage you to avoid the area on Saturday morning,” said Acting Fire Chief Darren Watson. “There will be smoke and a lot of activity. If possible, please take a different route.”
The controlled burn provides new recruits and existing firefighters an opportunity to practice a number of fire suppression exercises.
“The County of Brant has over 195 firefighters,” said Watson. “We respond to a number of emergencies including fire, medical and rescue. When a crisis strikes, we want the team to be prepared, knowledgeable and confident in their skills. Training exercises like these offer critical opportunities to practice in a more controlled environment.”
