City of Brantford is inviting families to spend PA Days in a whole new way with the launch of Gen Connect, a new intergenerational program series designed to bring children and older adult family members together through shared experiences.
Gen Connect encourages children ages 0 to 14, and older adults, ages 55 and up, to connect, learn and have fun side-by-side at free events offered by the City. From hands-on activities to active play and creative experiences, each session is designed to spark meaningful moments across generations.
“PA Days are a perfect opportunity to slow down and spend time together,” said Kevin Davis, Mayor for the City of Brantford. “Gen Connect is all about creating space for those moments, where generations can learn from each other, share experiences and build lasting connections together. I encourage all grandparents to register for every PA Day throughout the school year.”
The first Gen Connect event will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, offering a preview of the free programming families can expect throughout the year including pottery, tai chi, yoga, cooking, pickleball and more. The full list of activities is now available at Brantford.ca/HealthyKids. Space may be limited and pre-registration is required for some activities. Registration for the June 5 Gen Connect programs opens at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 27 at Brantford.ca/HealthyKids. Registration details for the fall 2026 school year PA Days will be announced in August 2026.
Gen Connect events will be offered on PA Days throughout the 2026/2027 elementary school year with program registration opening on a quarterly basis to make it easy for families to plan ahead. Participants can expect a welcoming, inclusive environment where all caregivers are encouraged to take part, whether they are grandparents, relatives or other important older adults in a child’s life.
Organizations or businesses that are interested in offering a Gen Connect program or activity during PA Days can still join the 2026/2027 school year. Please email healthykids@brantford.ca to learn more.
Prioritizing seniors’ health and wellness, and reducing social isolation are key components of the City of Brantford’s Healthy Aging Strategy. Initiatives such as Gen Connect provide an opportunity for older adults to try new things and stay connected to our community, which can improve their overall well-being.
