Local NewsCity of Brantford declares October as Probus Month

A flag-raising ceremony at Harmony Square in downtown Brantford on Oct. 10 marked the declaration of October as Probus Month in Brantford.

Probus is a worldwide non-profit organization that offers fun, friendship and fellowship for retired or semi-retired people. The clubs are all about socializing with other retirees in the community and encouraging healthy minds and bodies. Club members meet regularly to listen to speakers and take part in other activities ranging from book clubs to international travel.

Donna Potoczek, Probus Canada District 6 Director said about the Probus Month declaration, “Brantford can take great pride in having five Probus Clubs operating within the city, bringing together hundreds of members. This vibrant Probus presence is a testament to the city’s commitment to community and makes Brantford an even more attractive place to belong.”

Mayor Kevin Davis, who joined Potoczek in raising the flag, thanked about 30 Probus members and City representatives present, “in recognition of their valuable contributions to community life here in Brantford”.
