Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a call to report a woman had been assaulted at a Fifth Avenue location at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Officers attended and investigation revealed that the accused was reported to have assaulted the female victim in the hallway of a Fifth Avenue apartment building. Allegedly, threatening the victim before proceeding to strike her several times with a hammer and spray her with pepper spray.

The victim received minor injuries from the assault.

Officers attended the scene, located, and arrested the accused.

As a result of this investigation, a 29-year-old woman from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations: 

  • Assault with a Weapon (hammer) 
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose 
  • Criminal Harassment- beset and watch 
  • Administer Noxious Thing 
  • Assault with a weapon (pepper spray) 
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm 

The accused was held for bail.
