Brantford woman charged after single vehicle collision

Officers with the Brantford Police Service responded to a call for service for a single vehicle collision involving a fire hydrant and tree in the area of Applewood Drive at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, February 17.
Officers attended the scene and located the vehicle unoccupied. Shortly after arrival, the accused and registered owner of the vehicle, approached police. Police observed signs of impairment.
The accused failed to provide a valid permit for the vehicle.
The accused was arrested for Operation while Impaired by Drug and read the demand to accompany police for the purpose of participating in sobriety tests conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert. The tests indicated that the accused was impaired. 
As a result of the investigation, a 43-year-old female from Brantford, stands charged with: 
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, contrary to the Criminal Code 
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the accused’s license was suspended for 90-days, and the vehicle impounded as per law.
