A patrol officer with the Brantford Police Service conducted a traffic stop after observing a driver who was believed to be wanted on outstanding warrants at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

After initially stopping for police, the female driver fled in the motor vehicle. In the interest of public safety, officers did not pursue the vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, the vehicle was involved in a collision with a hydro pole. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended by officers a short distance away without further incident.

Investigation determined the motor vehicle had been reported stolen. Officers also discovered that 3D-printed licence plates had been attached to the vehicle.

At the time of her arrest, the accused was also found to be wanted on four outstanding warrants. Police further confirmed that she was operating the motor vehicle while under a driving suspension.

As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old female from Brantford has been charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Dangerous Operation 
  • Possession of Stolen Property

The female was also charged with ten additional Highway Traffic Act offences.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
