Brantford preparing for annual New Year’s celebration

City of BrantfordBrantford preparing for annual New Year's celebration

As the year draws to a close, the City of Brantford is set to usher in 2024 with a dazzling New Year’s Eve celebration that promises to be the highlight of the season on December 31, 2023 for free live music, photo booth and party favours at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts.

The celebration continues in Harmony Square with the ball drop at midnight followed by a spectacular firework display to ring in the new year.

“New Year’s Eve is a wonderful time of year for Brantford residents to connect with one another and ring in 2024 with their family, friends and neighbours,” said Kevin Davis, Mayor for the City of Brantford. “On behalf of the City of Brantford Councillors and myself, we send our warmest wishes for a joyous and safe holiday season, and prosperous New Year.”

The evening begins at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts with the doors opening at 8:00 p.m. Live music starts at 9 p.m. featuring Wicked Truth, presented by Bellvue Manor, playing high energy classic rock followed by Summer of 69’, presented by Associated Paving and Materials Ltd., performing their international Bryan Adams Tribute Act just after 10 p.m.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone on New Year’s Eve and are very grateful to all of our sponsors, including our presenting sponsor Hickory Dickory Deck, for helping to support this free New Year’s Eve event for the community,” said Jennifer Middleton, Special Events Supervisor for the City of Brantford. “We look forward to seeing everyone there!”

Wicked Truth formed in 2016, and with their extremely entertaining, engaging and energetic performances, quickly became a favourite across southern Ontario. You may recognize them from their first television appearance on the long running CBC show Land and Sea and their regular appearances on The Discovery Channel hit show The RVers, over the past four years.

SUMMER OF 69 is Canada’s tribute to Bryan Adams, established in 2004 in Toronto, and has performed at countless outdoor festivals, theatres and events across Canada, USA including the Caribbean’s. They are now one of the most popular tribute acts around.

The fun continues outdoors in Harmony Square with a ball drop just before midnight to count down the New Year followed by a spectacular firework display sponsored by TD Canada Trust. There will be free outdoor ice-skating available from 10 a.m. to midnight, weather permitting.

Residents are encouraged to take the opportunity to enjoy a bite to eat at one of the many local eateries while they are there. A list of dining options can be found at downtownbrantford.ca. Reservations may be required in advance.

Free parking is available downtown on December 31 and January 1 and at the Municipal Market Centre Parkade, located next to Harmony Square at 59 Icomm Drive. Free Brantford Transit and Brantford Lift is available on New Year’s Eve from 9 p.m. on December 31 to 1 a.m. on January 1, 2024.
