As a result of a community complaint, an illegal cannabis store has been shut down, resulting in the arrest of two Barrie men and the seizure of over $130,000 in illegal cannabis product.

On January 27, 2025, the Brantford Police Service received information from a concerned citizen regarding the operation of a possible illegal cannabis storefront, located near Colborne Street and Clarence Street.

Through investigation, officers determined that this retail location was not licensed and operating illegally.

Members of the BPS Core Engagement and Response Team (CERT), executed a search warrant at the retail location on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

Approximately $130,860 in illegal cannabis and cannabis-related product were seized. 

As a result of the investigation, a 50-year-old man and a 51-year-old man, both from Barrie, were arrested and stand charged with the following Cannabis Act offences:

•Distribution of illicit cannabis

•Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling
