Brantford man facing Assault charge after confrontation

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a residence located at Blackburn Drive near Conklin Road after receiving a report of an assault at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023.

Officers attended and through investigation, learned that a verbal disagreement occurred between a service vendor and the resident. The verbal disagreement escalated to physical violence, with the resident allegedly assaulting the service vendor.

As a result, a 59-year-old male resident from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Assault

25-year-old Brantford man facing Weapons charges

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, at approximately 12:40 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a weapon related call for service at a restaurant located at Henry Street and Wayne Gretzky Parkway.

Witnesses reported that the accused had allegedly threatened an employee with an edged weapon when asked to leave the premises as a result of disruptive behaviour.

Officers attended the scene. The accused was located and arrested. 

As a result, a 25-year-old male resident from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose 
  • Assault with a weapon 

The accused was held for bail.

Brantford Police charge man with Arson and Mischief

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to a business in the area of Sydenham Street and St. George Street after receiving a report of property damage at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

Witnesses reported the accused had allegedly set a pool table on fire, causing significant damage inside the establishment using a hammer as a weapon. The establishment was required to close for business due to heavy smoke damage. 

Officers attended and, through investigation, identified, located, and arrested the suspect at a nearby residence.

As a result, a 45-year-old male resident from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Arson – damage to property
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Mischief over $5,000
  • Mischief – Interfere with lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of property

The accused was held for bail.
