Brantford Police charge Ohsweken man with Impaired Driving

On Saturday, December 12, 2022, at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a call related to a possible impaired driver in the area of Mohawk Road and Locks Road.

A concerned citizen called to report a vehicle was observed parked the wrong way on the street with its hazard lights on.

Officers attended and, in speaking with the driver, observed signs of impairment.

The accused performed roadside screening and registered a fail. The accused was then arrested and transported to provide samples of his breath as required by law.

Both samples provided were over the legal limit.

As a result, a 58-year-old man from Ohsweken stands charged with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code.

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.

Brantford man charged with Operation while Impaired

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022.

A concerned citizen called to report that they had observed a vehicle swerving in traffic, nearly colliding with several other vehicles, before striking a curb, running a red light, and stopping at a green light for multiple light cycles.  

Officers attended, located the subject vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop on Park Road North near Powerline Road.

Speaking with the accused, officers observed signs of impairment.

The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were nearly 4.5 times the legal limit.

Due to the level of intoxication, paramedics were called to assess the accused.

As a result of the investigation a 28-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • 80 Plus 
  • Operation while Impaired 
  • Dangerous Operation 

Additionally, the driver’s licence of the accused was suspended, and the vehicle impounded.

Police charge novice driver with Operation while Impaired

On Saturday, December 3, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched to attend a report of a possible impaired driver who had left an establishment located on Colborne Street.

Officers attended, located the subject vehicle and the accused driver nearby. A traffic stop was conducted.

Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.

The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were over twice times the legal limit. 

As a result, a 19-year-old male from Brantford, stands charged with the following offences: 

  • Operation while Impaired, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration, contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Novice Driver, Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Additionally, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s licence of the accused, suspended.

Brantford man charged with Break and Enter

Officers with the Brantford Police Service were dispatched after receiving a call to report a break and enter at a Mary Street location at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

Officers attended and located the accused within the building. When police advised the accused he was under arrest, a short foot pursuit occurred as the accused attempted to avoid and resist arrest.

The accused was quickly apprehended and as a result, a 30-year-old man of Brantford stands charged with Break, Enter, a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence, contrary to the Criminal Code.

Police charge Brantford woman with Operation while Impaired

On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., patrol officers with the Brantford Police Service in the area of Powerline Road and Wayne Gretzky Parkway observed a motor vehicle wedged into the dirt at the intersection of Wayne Gretzky Parkway and Powerline Road. 

Speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment.

The accused was arrested and transported to provide samples of breath as required by law. Both samples provided were three times the legal limit.

As a result, a 23-year-old female from Brantford, stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Operation while Impaired
  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration

Additionally, the vehicle was impounded and the driver’s licence of the accused, suspended.
